[CORNER BROOK, NL] — Newfoundland and Labrador's premier says support is on the way for the province's last paper mill should Kruger Inc. and its unions reach a deal.

Kathy Dunderdale says details of the deal for Corner Brook Pulp and Paper will not be made public until after the Aug. 22 vote, when unions decide on pension and restructuring.

Dunderdale maintains that support will not come in the form of an operating subsidy.

NDP member Lorraine Michael says the government's promise to the Montreal-based Kruger should be made public.

She says workers should be able to decide before they vote on a contract if they think the government's support will help sustain the struggling mill for the long-term.
