[ST. JOHN'S, NL] – Husky Energy is trying to determine the cause of a fire that broke out Tuesday aboard its SeaRose oil platform off Newfoundland.

Spokeswoman Colleen McConnell says the fire was noticed in a pump room on board the floating production, storage and offloading vessel at the White Rose oilfield shortly after 5 p.m.

McConnell says there were 99 people on board at the time, but no one was hurt and no evacuation was necessary.

She says the blaze was contained to the pump room and it was extinguished quickly by the vessel's fire response team.

She says the damage is still being assessed.

The SeaRose has not yet resumed oil production after undergoing maintenance earlier this summer.
